Round 2
Round Two of the 2026 Shepparton District Car Club Championship is shaping up to be an exciting follow-up to a competitive opening round at Mooroopna, where early championship contenders began to emerge.
In P Class (Production), Josh Bohm stamped his authority on Round One, taking outright honours with a composed and consistent performance. Bohm will head into Round Two as the benchmark driver, but he won’t have it easy. Russell Smith finished just 35 seconds behind in the opener and showed strong pace across the later runs, while James Thomson and Adam Stonham also proved they are more than capable of challenging for podium positions. Expect Production to once again be one of the most closely fought categories.
S Class (Special) saw Justin Aylett claim third outright in Round One, despite carrying a penalty during the day. His raw speed was evident, and with a cleaner run in Round Two, Aylett could easily push further up the outright standings.
C Class (Modified Under 1600cc) provided an interesting storyline in the opener. Nathan Graves secured the class win in Round One, while reigning multi-title holder Warren Mitchelson endured a tougher day than usual, with penalties affecting his overall result. Mitchelson’s pace was still evident in patches, and you can expect a strong response in Round Two as he looks to reassert himself in the championship fight.
In D Class, Noah Moore led the way with a solid sixth outright finish, narrowly ahead of Richard Graves. With both drivers showing steady improvement across the runs, Round Two could see an even tighter battle between the pair.
The Ladies Class saw Kerry Graves take the early points in Round One ahead of Em Stonham, while Junior competitor Tommi Wallace gained valuable experience in the opening event. As confidence builds, both categories are likely to see further time improvements as the season progresses.
Round Two traditionally sees drivers settle into rhythm after the opening round nerves, and with championship points already on the board, every run will count. With several close margins across classes in Round One, expect tighter gaps, cleaner runs, and perhaps a few shake-ups in the outright order.
The Shepparton District Car Club looks forward to another strong field of competitors, officials, and supporters as the 2026 Championship continues to build momentum.
